Introduction
The BMW X3 F25 is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW from 2010 to 2017. It is the second generation of the BMW X3 crossover, and was introduced as a concept car at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The X3 F25 was built on the BMW 3 Series chassis, and was available in a variety of trim levels. Engine and Gearbox
The X3 F25 was available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, ranging from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine to a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine. The engines were mated to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox, with the eight-speed being available from 2013 onwards.
Design & Accessories
The X3 F25 was available in a variety of trim levels, ranging from the entry-level sDrive18i to the top-spec xDrive35i. The exterior design was based on the BMW E90 3 Series, with the addition of a new front grille and restyled rear bumper. The interior featured a host of luxury features, including leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and a 10.2-inch infotainment system.
Suspension
The X3 F25 featured a MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension setup, with the optional Adaptive M suspension providing further levels of adjustability. The suspension setup provided a comfortable ride, while still providing good levels of grip and handling.
Successor
The X3 F25 was replaced in 2017 by the X3 G01. The X3 G01 is based on the BMW CLAR platform, and is powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines. The exterior design has been updated to match the current BMW styling, and features a host of new features, including adaptive cruise control and a 12.3-inch infotainment system.
